Sources
Which pages and domains do the answers cite?
Example finding
See whose pages get cited
Find out whether third party reviews or your own pages carry the citations for a topic.
Quick answer: Sources
Sources shows which domains and URLs the engines cite, how often, for which topics, and how much of it is your own domain, using only citations the provider exposes.
What you see
Citation rate, cited domains and URLs where the engine exposes them, so you can see what supports the answers about you and your competitors.
Citation rate
The share of eligible runs that cite one of your domains.
Cited domains
Which domains appear, how often, and for which topics.
Cited URLs
The exact pages, with the source context of each citation.
By engine
Citation behaviour differs by engine, so results are shown separately.
How it works
- 1
Capture
Citation metadata returned by the provider is stored with the run. Only observable citations are recorded.
- 2
Group
Citations are grouped by domain, URL, topic and engine.
- 3
Hand off
Gaps go to Source Intelligence, which explains why sources appear.
How it is measured
Definitions come first, so numbers stay comparable from one audit to the next.
- Citation rate
- Runs with a brand domain citation divided by eligible runs.
- Cited domains
- Distinct domains cited across the selected runs.
- Owned share
- The share of citations that point to your own domains.
Good to know. Not every engine shows sources on every answer. We never claim to see a model's hidden retrieval or training data.
Common questions
Do all engines show citations?
No. Perplexity exposes sources routinely. Others do so only in some modes, so absence is not evidence of absence.
Is a cited page always influential?
A citation shows a page was used or shown. It does not prove how much it shaped the answer.
Why are some answers uncited?
The engine did not expose sources for that answer. Absence is not evidence of absence.
